Ericsson hit with a grid penalty after qualifying in Monza

Just after Qualifying for the Italian GP this afternoon, Sauber driver Marcus Ericsson has been hit with a three-place grid penalty.

Ericsson will now fall from 10th to 13th on the grid at Monza after being found guilty by the stewards of impeding Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg during the first part of qualifying.

Hulkenberg was on a flying lap in Q1 when Ericsson pulled across on to the German’s racing line on the approach into the Parabolica.

Ericsson has also been handed two penalty points on his licence, and is now up to seven for the relevant 12-month period.
