1442771641It was announced this morning that a 27-year-old British national has been charged after invading the track during last Sunday’s Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix.

The man, named in documents as Yogvitam Pravin Dhokia, was arrested after walking the Marina Bay circuit between Turns 13 and 14.

CCTV footage showed he gained access through a gap in the street circuit’s fencing, a move race winner Sebastian Vettel called “crazy” to the press after the race finished.

A court in Singapore today has charged the man with committing an “act so rashly as to endanger the personal safety of the drivers involved in the race, to wit, by crossing the race track while the race is ongoing.”

He faces up to six months in jail and/or a maximum fine of £1143 (2500 Singapore dollars).
