It was announced today that former Formula One team boss Eddie Jordan has been signed up to co-present the revamped Top Gear TV show.
Jordan joins a presenting team of seven, headed up by Chris Evans and including Friends star Matt LeBlanc. Jordan has previously worked on the BBC’s coverage of Formula One, but the British broadcaster has pulled out of its contract with F1 ahead of the 2016 season, which has been taken on by Channel 4.
In a statement to the media today, Jordan stated the following about securing the role with Top Gear as follows:-
‘I have such enormous respect for all my fellow presenters and I politely ask that they go easy on these old bones.’
Also named in the new Top Gear line-up were motoring journalist Chris Harris, racing driver Sabine Schmitz and journalist Rory Reid. The Stig will also remain a part of the TV show.
