In an interview with the media yesterday, Renault driver Jolyon Palmer believes his soon-to-be ex-Renault team-mate Kevin Magnussen “will do well” with the Haas F1 Team.
Magnussen has joined the US outfit on a multi-year deal ,after turning down an offer from the French manufacturer due to what he perceived as “a lack of commitment”.
Meanwhile Palmer who has been retained by Renault for the 2017 season will have partnered Magnussen for a single season but this has been enough for Palmer in an interview with the media yesterday to acknowledge his future rival’s qualities. Palmer stated the following:-
‘Kevin’s a good guy, a great racer and fun to work with. I think we’ve worked well together this year when we’ve known we’ve had to push to get the most out of the car.
‘I think he’ll do well at Haas and I’m looking forward to racing against him in different coloured cars next season.’
Despite Magnussen’s remarks about Renault, Renault team principal Frederic Vasseur shares Palmer’s sentiment about Magnussen as follows:-
‘We’d like to thank [Kevin] for his efforts this year as we know it hasn’t been always the easiest. We’d love to see him end his final race for us in the points and we wish him well for the future as he is a very talented driver.’
